Chapter 9 Date Disaster
Author's note: I apologise if Warbird's back story isn't the same as her comic book counterpart, but I only did it for story purposes. Besides if the show can make Silver Surfer a surfer dude and make Falcon a rookie, I don't see why I can't make Warbird a clone.
Ms. Marvel walked onto the landing bay on top of the Helicarrier to be greeted by the cool summer breeze and golden sunshine. Her blonde locks flowing behind her as she approached the front edge of the massive aircraft with no fear present about the fall, but rather with fear about how she would act on her date with Spider-Man.
Well that's what she called it but she couldn't admit to herself that she had a crush on the webslinger, probably because her feelings for Captain Mar-vell were still begging her not to forget him in favour of someone weaker than him. But he wouldn't want her moping over his death would he?
She pushed these thoughts aside as she started flying through the air towards the park where the citizens waved to her in respect of her heroic deeds over the years. She landed in the middle of the park and looked around. Spider-Man didn't appear to be here, probably running late. She allowed herself to smile, feeling good that she was taking a break from her commanding duties (she asked Captain America's pal Nick Fury if he could take over for the day) and enjoying herself.
She then heard the familiar sound one would hear from webbing being shot through the air and turned towards the park entrance to see the young red-and-blue suited man swinging from buildings before jumping into the air and landing on the ground.
"Hey M&M, I was starting to worry you weren't going to come." The SHIELD leader crossed her arms with a smirk "Just thought I'd keep my promise seeing as how you seem like a guy who's been rejected more times than I can imagine."
"Wow, I didn't know Professor X was teaching you how to be a psychic. I guess you know when a guys cheating on you then?" The blond shook her head as the red arachnid chuckled sheepishly "I know I should stop making these jokes, but they just come naturally."
"Well then, let's hope being romantic comes naturally."
"Okay, do you like ice cream?"
"Does Flatman bore the heck out of everyone?" She and Spider-Man decided to walk over to the ice cream parlour so they could talk better. Spider-Man had Caramel Crunch and Ms. Marvel had Mint Choc Chip as they talked about stuff like how they met their friends and what villains they faced. After they finished their ice cream Spider-Man asked "Hey Ms can I ask you something?"
"What is it?"
"Are you and Tony a thing?" Her eyes shot towards him as he relised that he just asked out loud "Uhh I-I'm sorry I shouldn't of....oh darn."
Ms. Marvel understood where he was coming from seeing as how she and Iron Man acted during his absence "Well while I'm not comfortable talking about who I'm interested in or not, I can assure you...
She couldn't finish as Spider-Man stopped walking "Spider-Sense, MOVE!" He jumped up and she followed suit, knowing his sixth sense was never wrong, just in time to dodge a pair of lasers.
Ms. Marvel and Spider-Man looked up to see who had fired the laser at them only to stare agape at an exact duplicate of Ms. Marvel hovering over them, hands burning with energy and an evil smirk planted on her face.
"Ms. Marvel I presume? I've heard a lot about you."
She just stared back in shock finding it difficult to form a sentence "W-who...who are you?"
She playfully pouted "Oh where are my manners? My name is Warbird, and who might this be?" She leaned towards Spider-Man.
"Well if you must know, I'm your friendly cityscape Spider-Man, who specializes in clones, imposters and actor portrayals!"
"Do you specialize in target practice?" She then lit up her hands with energy and blasted it at the two knocking them both back. The two recovered and Ms. Marvel charged towards her and engaged her in close combat while bumping into buildings and firing energy beams whenever either of them got a clear shot.
'Where did she come from?' Ms. Marvel wondered as Spider-Man swung round and kicked Warbird into a lamppost before webbing her up giving Ms. Marvel a chance to swing her around and fling her into a pond. Warbird rose from the water, frustrated at her ruined hair and grabbed Ms as she charged into her and kicked her back.
Warbird smashed Ms. Marvel under a pile of rubble from slamming her into a building. She saw Spider-Man swinging towards her and flew down the street trying to evade him, but due to his practice over the years he was catching up quite quickly. So with that Warbird decided to get clichéd and caught a nearby public bus as she flew upwards towards it causing the web-head to land to chase her by running up the building she was next to.
At the top Spider-Man flipped over the edge and landed on the roof looking up at the bus carrying clone "Here, CATCH!" She threw the public bus over her head into the air with the civilians screaming their heads off as they began their descent down to the concrete road.
Spider-Man ignored Warbird and rushed towards the falling bus and stuck to the wall of the nearby building shooting two web strands a time at the public bus connecting each strand in between the two buildings just as it came to a slower descent. Once it stopped falling and started bouncing in the air near the ground, Spidey rushed to the ground and got all the civilians of it.
His Spider-Sense started tingling but he had no time to react as Warbird rammed her fist against his chest. Spider-Man went colliding full on into a store, smashing the glass with some of the glass cutting into his arm, tearing off a piece of the spandex with blood flying onto it as the wall crawler screamed in pain.
"AAAAAH!"
Ms. Marvel heard the scream and broke out of the debris she was trapped in, flying upward to get a view of where the scream came from only to see Spidey pulling bits of glass from the gash in his arm. This made something inside her snap, her teeth gritted so hard they threatened to break and her fist clenched so much blood threatened to come out from where her finger nails were digging in.
Warbird barley had a chance to defend herself as Ms. Marvel rammed her fist into her nose and started to slam the clone into the grassy field nearby. 'I'm not losing another guy I lov-wait, what?' did she really think that?
Warbird peeled herself off the ground just as Spider-Man landed next to Ms. Marvel albeit with some groans due to the pain coursing through his arm. "Hmph you win." She rubbed her bruised face with her right hand while lighting up her left with energy "Consider yourselves on probation." She blasted the ground causing dust and dirt to blind the two heroes, when the mess cleared the clone was gone.
Ms. Marvel turned to Spider-Man and grabbed his hands while staring into his eyes before asking "How bad does it hurt?" She noticed her tone and blushed as she held his hands as Spidey felt his cheeks grow warm "I-It stings a lot probably got some glass still stuck in it..."
"I'm so sorry I didn't mean for you to get hurt, here let's get you some help from the medical wing at the Helicarrier." Ms. Marvel wrapped her arm around Spider-Man and lifted him up as she flew them up towards the Helicarrier. Spider-Man blushed at this and put his good arm around her in case he fell, causing her to share his blush.
"Hey Spidey, thanks for the day. Y'know before she attacked and all. I enjoyed myself."
Spider-Man ignored the pain in his arm completely as his heart raced at her radiant smile "You're welcome." Then, out of nowhere, she kissed him on his cheek. He chuckled nervously but the pain returned in his arm.
"It's alright we're nearly there."
While Ms. Marvel flew Spider-Man back up to the Helicarrier, Warbird came out of her hiding spot and hovered over towards what Ultron needed. On the ground was the piece of Spidey's suit that got cut off during his injury and there was a good portion of blood stained on it. She picked it up and flew back to Villainville before anyone could figure out what she was doing.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ultron had excused himself from Doom's throne room and headed to his laboratory that he had set up in a far part of Villainville where the villains didn't normally go to. When Ultron was working in there they assumed that he was just doing some calculating and didn't bother disturbing him. If only they knew...
Warbird had flown through Villianville towards this makeshift lab and made sure no one else was watching before punching the code. The door unlocked and she made her way in with the blood stained cloth in a hurry in fear of the blood fading into the cloth. She encountered Ultron near the very machine that had created her and made haste towards him as he turned his robotic frame in her direction.
"Has blood sample been acquired as predicted?"
"Yes master. But I worry that the blood may have dried off during my flight over here."
Ultron took the cloth from her hand and scanned over it with his optics. Good the blood was still 78% fresh "Sample suitable for cloning process." He then went over to a glass container the size of a shoebox and the machine sparked to life as Warbird watched in wonder as the machine that created her was buzzing, clicking and banging away.
After a few more minutes of this, Ultron walked up to the main panel which had just switched from 99% completion to 100% completion. He then configured a few button sequences which caused the noise to halt and the casing to open from the top to halfway down.
There from head to upper torso was a young man who had brown hair with blonde highlights near the sides and a superhuman build to his muscles. Warbird became fascinated with this 'spider-clone' but jumped back in fright when his hazel eyes shot open...
